I am a woman, lover, mother and friend. In addition to quilting, I like to spend my free time ballroom dancing, rock climbing, hiking and biking. If I’m not quilting there is no place I would rather be than in the sun, on the beach, with my feet in the sand and a good book. I am a firefighter by profession and a Reiki II Practitioner by choice. I was born in Denver but moved to southern Maine in 1980. I love the beaches but miss the abundance of sun. My children are grown and I live alone in a nice little condo where I share my bedroom with my sewing space. I have been dating a most generous man for several years who treats me like the Queen I tell him I am. When we met he didn’t know anything about fabric and now I have to stop him from buying “one of everything”.
I have been quilting since 1998 but have just started getting serious about machine quilting and designing.
This is a blog about the changes taking place in my life over the next several months…granddaughter, retirement, longarm quilting. Please join me as I begin these new adventures.
You can contact me at…rky_mtn@hotmail.com but please enter “blog” in the subject line so it doesn’t languish in my junk mail.
We didn’t go to any quilt shops (no car) but did see some very nice quilts at the Tennessee State Museum (free) downtown.

I really like the stretched star quilt and think you should let it live with you. I’m going to visit Nashville next month for the first time; can you suggest any good quilt shops in the area?
