Can you tell what Taz did for New Year’s Eve…

I admit, I’m not that sad to see the end of 2008. Considering the stock market decline, along with the bursting of the real estate bubble, my financial situation is certainly not as rosy as it was this time last year. With retirement right around the corner, the timing could not have been worse. That said, I am still employed and bring home a check that pays the bills so I can’t complain too loudly. Nevertheless, I’m glad to say goodbye to 2008 and welcome the new year with great expectations.
Bill and I spent the evening at Symphony Hall in Boston listening and dancing to The Boston Pops. We had shared our New Year’s Eve there a few years ago and really had a good time. We spent the night at the Comfort Inn in Revere. The weather was brutal, with bitter cold and very strong winds. We drove to the firehouse and walked to the T stop which was a couple of blocks. The T was free all night which was a nice surprise; at least we didn’t have to stand in the cold to purchase a token. We got off at the Symphony stop, walked up the stairs and into the hall. Our seats were at the top next to the stage. We could only see about half of the stage but we could see that up close. It really didn’t matter as we spent very little time in our seats. We would rather dance. The floor was not as crowded as the last time we went and we had a good amount of space to swing, along with “sweat and sway”.
We got back to the hotel around 1:30 and didn’t waste any time climbing into bed. The only drawback was the very loud women in the room next door. They were so loud that it sounded as though they were in the same room with us. I have never heard so much noise in a hotel. I can’t imagine being so inconsiderate of others trying to sleep. They remained loud through the entire night and well into the morning. However, we had a great time. I hope you enjoyed your New Year’s Eve and wish you a 2009 filled with good health and prosperity.
